Materials:
- Electric knife or scissors
- Large sheet of 2-inch-thick white foam (available at fabric shops)
- 2 yards of beige marine vinyl (available at fabric shops)
- Brown marker
- Hot glue
- Legs cut from 2 pairs of women's white opaque stockings
- 20-ounce bag of fiberfill
- String l Colored straws
- Heavy-duty adhesive-backed Velcro
- 2 (1-yard) lengths of 1-inch grosgrain ribbon
- Green pipe cleaner
- 3-inch Styrofoam ball
- Red acrylic paint and brush
- Plastic headband
Time needed: Afternoon or Evening
Directions:
1. CONE: With the electric knife or scissors, cut the foam into a doughnut shape that will fit comfortably around your child's waist with a few inches to spare all around. Cut the vinyl into 2 matching shapes as shown (diagram 1).

2. Draw diagonal crisscrossing lines on them with the brown marker. Hot-glue these pieces to the ring (diagram 2). Fill 2 stocking legs with the fiberfill and tie the ends closed with string. Stuff a third one to the knee, tie it, and trim the excess. With the hot glue, coil the stockings onto the ring. Glue on 2-inch-long sections of straw for sprinkles. (We also glued sprinkles on our T-shirt.)

3. For the straps, attach corresponding Velcro strips to the ring and ribbons (diagram 3). Trim any excess ribbon.

4. HAT: Loosely fill the remaining stocking leg with fiberfill, tie it with string, and shape it into a coil. Apply hot glue as needed to assemble the hat's parts (diagram 4) and to add sprinkles.

Materials:
- Scissors
- 2 (12- by 18-inch) sheets of red stiff felt (we used E-Z Felt brand)
- 9- by 12-inch sheet of black stiff felt
- Hole punch
- 2 yards of 1/2-inch-wide black ribbon
- Tacky glue
- 2 black pipe cleaners
- 2 (1-inch) red pom-poms
- Large marker
- Black electrical tape
- Brimmed black hat
Time needed: About 2 to 3 Hours
Directions:
1. With scissors, cut 2 half-circle wings from the red felt. Cut four 3-inch circles from the black felt. (Download the spot template and wing template at
Family Fun Magazine)
2. Overlap the wings as shown and punch 2 holes through both pieces of felt. Thread the ribbon through the holes.
3. Glue the circles onto the wings and let them dry (about 10 minutes).
4. For each antenna, wrap one end of a pipe cleaner tightly around a pom-pom. Twist the pipe cleaner around the marker to form a loose spiral, then tape the ends of the pipe cleaners behind the brim of the hat.

5. To tie on the wings, simply bring the ribbon over each shoulder, cross the pieces over your child's chest, then tie the ends together in the back.

Materials:
- Craft knife and scissors
- 4 (12- by 18-inch) craft foam sheets
- Large and small circle-shaped craft punches
- Fabric glue
- Sheer fabric in 2 colors (about 2 yards total)
- Double-sided carpet tape and duct tape
- 6 (19-inch) lengths of 18-gauge wire
- 3 yards of marabou boa
- Measuring tape
- Adhesive-backed Velcro
- Headband
- 2 (12-inch) extra-thick pipe cleaners
Time needed: Afternoon or Evening
Directions:

1. Wings: With a craft knife, cut the craft foam into 2 identical sets of wings (so both the left and right wings have 2 layers) and 2 connectors. (See diagram 1)
2. Use the craft punches and knife to make cutouts in the wings, making sure the holes in both layers are aligned. Working on the bottom layer of each wing, glue sheer fabric over the cutout areas, then use the carpet tape to attach the bottom wings to one connector and to affix the wires.
3. To make the straps, lay 2 lengths of boa across the connector. Apply carpet tape between them and on either side. Add more carpet tape around the wings' edges, then top with the second layer of wings and the remaining connector, pressing them firmly together. Have your child try on the wings, then tie and trim the straps.

4. Skirt: For the skirt's waistband (see diagram 2), measure and cut a piece of duct tape a little longer than your child's waist, then lay it out sticky side up. Cut a matching length of boa and 2 rectangles of sheer fabric, then affix them to the waistband as shown.
5. Cut the fringe (to prevent fraying, we brushed on lines of glue first, let it dry, then cut along the lines). Add adhesive-backed Velcro tab closures at the waistband's ends.
6. Headband: Using the fabric glue, affix boa trim to the headband and glue one end of each pipe cleaner to the underside of the headband. Then glue a tuft of boa to the other ends of the pipe cleaners and twist them into the desired shape.
