Masquerade Candles Votives
Materials
  • Large candle votive
  • Candle
  • Cloth Masquerade mask
  • White or black crepe paper
  • White or black craft tape
Tools

Getting Started
  1. Take your choice of crepe paper and match the craft tape accordingly. Begin with taping the end of the crepe paper to the hurricane vase and wrap the crepe paper around, leaving some the glass visible. Cut the crepe paper and tape to secure.
  2. Place the masquerade mask over the crepe paper around the vase. Insert candle and let the light shine through!
Snaked-out Pumpkin
Materials
  • Pumpkin
  • Plastic snake
Tools
  • Awl
Getting Started
  1. Using the awl, make two holes on either side of the pumpkin that are a bit smaller then the thickness of your snake.
  2. Cut the snake in half and place each half of the snake in separate holes in the pumpkin.

  3. *Tip: Pick out the size of the snake relative to the size of the pumpkin.
Ghost Heads in Decorative bucket
Materials
  • Large white Styrofoam ball
  • 2 ft Dowel
  • Cheesecloth
  • Black felt
  • Large tin bucket
  • Oasis
  • Craft glue
  • Black Spray paint
  • Six Halloween stencils
  • Spray adhesive
  • 1 bag Paper shred basket filler

Getting Started
  1. Spray one side of the Halloween stencil with spray adhesive and place on the outside of the tin bucket. Repeat with remaining the stencils, placing them around the bucket. Using the spray paint, spray the outside of the bucket.
  2. While the bucket is drying, take the dowel and insert it ¾ of the way into the Styrofoam ball. Lay several layers of the cheesecloth over the Styrofoam ball, so that the cheesecloth hangs in different lengths. Cut a small strip of cheesecloth and tie a simple knot around the neck of the ghost.
  3. Cut two eyes and a large oval mouth out of the black felt and glue to the ghost.
  4. Once the bucket is dry, place four blocks of oasis into the bucket and insert the ghost head dowels and insert into the oasis. Spread the paper shred filler over the oasis, to completely cover. Boo!
Spider Gift Bags
Materials
  • Black gift bag
  • Four black pipe cleaners
  • One white pipe cleaner
  • Two small red pompoms
  • Two googly eyes

  • Hot glue gun
  • Scissors
  • Utility Knife
Getting Started
  1. Glue the two red pompoms just below the rim of the bag, these are your spider's eyes, then glue the googly eyes onto the pompoms.
  2. For the fangs, cut two 1 ½" pieces from the white pipe cleaners and bend each piece in half. Glue to the bag with the fold pointing down, 1" below the eyes.
  3. Using the knife, puncture four holes two inches apart down each side of the edge of the bag. Insert one black pipe cleaner into the top hole, threading it back out the hole below it. Bend the two 'legs' sticking so that they resemble spider legs. Repeat with the three remaining pipe cleaners, so that in the end the spider has eight legs.
Happy Halloween Banner
Materials
  • Three varieties of orange ribbon
  • 1 yard of burlap fabric
  • Stick-on large letters

Getting Started
  1. Cut 28 pieces of burlap twice the size of your stick on letters. Layer each piece of burlap so that you have 14 pieces, each two layers thick.
  2. Stick the letters onto the burlap pieces to spell out 'Happy Halloween' on both sides.
  3. Cut one piece of ribbon the length of 'happy', leaving extra on each side to hang the banner. Do the same with 'Halloween'.
  4. Weave the ribbon in and out of the top of each burlap letter.
  5. With another ribbon, tie bow every so often tie in between the letters. Hang and Happy Halloween!
Glitter Glow Pumpkin Bowl
Materials
  • Fish bowl
  • Adhesive spray
  • Orange glitter
  • Sand
  • Candle
  • Contact paper

Getting Started
  1. Draw your choice of a pumpkin face on the contact paper. Cut out the pieces and stick onto the glass bowl.
  2. Spray the bowl with adhesive and sprinkle with glitter, working in sections around the bowl. Continue until you have covered the entire bowl.
  3. After the glitter has set, remove the contact paper.
  4. Pour 2" of sand into the bowl and nestle the candle into the sand. Light the candle and see the pumpkin smile!
Orange Ribbon Lanterns
Materials
  • Black hanging lanterns
  • Assorted orange ribbons
  • Pillar Candles
Tools
  • Hot glue gun
Getting Started
  1. Gently loosen the glass on the four sides of the lantern.
    Hot glue the ribbon to one corner of the lantern. Wait for the glue to dry and then weave the ribbon through the lantern bars. Hot glue the ribbon to each corner of the lantern to hold the ribbon in place.
  2. Trim the excess ribbon and glue the end to the last corner of the lantern.
  3. Replace the glass panes in the lanterns. This ensures that the ribbon will not be exposed to the flame.
  4. Hang from various heights or arrange on your tabletop. Place pillar candles inside and light.
Pumpkin Tiered Serving Platter
Materials
  • 3 pumpkins (large, medium, small)
  • Three disposal aluminum trays (one large and two medium)
  • Orange ribbon
  • Greening Pins
Tools
  • Large serrated knife
Getting Started
  1. Take the largest pumpkin and cut the top 1/4" off to create an even surface. Repeat with the medium size pumpkin.
  2. Place the large pumpkin on the large tray, then stack the medium-size tray on top. Repeat with the medium pumpkin and the other medium tray, and finish with the small pumpkin.
  3. Use the greening pins to puncture through the trays, secure the pumpkins to each other. Wrap the ribbon around the base of each pumpkin and tie a bow.
  4. Spread out the Halloween treats on the trays and enjoy!
Halloween Season Placemats
Materials
  • Bamboo Placemat
  • Orange Ribbon

Getting Started
  1. Measure and cut a piece of ribbon that is a little bit longer then the placemat.
  2. Weave the ribbon in and out of the placemat along the edges. Tie knots on each end of the ribbon to keep it in its place.

  3. *Note: The orange ribbon can be removed so that the placemat can be reused for another holiday with another color ribbon!
Pumpkin Paper Bag
Materials
  • Paper lunch bag
  • Orange spray paint
  • 2 Green pipe cleaners
  • Assorted green ribbon
  • Curling ribbon
  • Old newspaper
  • One large rock
Tools
  • Scissors
Getting Started
  1. Spray paint all sides of the bag with orange spray paint. While the bag is drying, cut 1-inch strips from the newspaper and stuff the bag ¾ full with newspaper.
  2. Tie one of the ribbons around the top of the bag to close it shut.
  3. Tie some more ribbons around the closing, along with the pipe cleaners. Curl the curling ribbon and wrap the pipe cleaner around a pencil to curl it as well.
  4. With a thicker ribbon, tie a bow around the neck of the bag.
Halloween Coasters
Materials

Getting Started
  1. Trace the Halloween stencil on the contact paper. Cut out and place on the tile.
  2. Spray the tile with paint and let dry completely.
  3. Peel the contact image off the tile and your ready to go.
Creepy Curb Appeal:

Pumpkin Topiary Characters
Materials
  • 3 pumpkins, varying sizes
  • Greening Pins
  • Costume hat (witch, pirate, etc.)
  • Eye patch or masquerade mask
  • 2 sticks
  • Footed urn (optional)
Tools
  • Pumpkin carving tools (optional)
  • Awl
Getting Started
  1. If you want your characters to have carved faces, decide which pumpkin will be at the top of your topiary and using the carving tools, carve a face for your topiary.
  2. Position the pumpkins on top of each other and using the greening pins, attach each pumpkin where they meet. Two or three greening pins should be enough to connect each pumpkin to the one above it.
  3. Using the awl, poke two holes opposite each other in the middle pumpkin. Insert the sticks for arms.
  4. Decorate your characters head with a hat and an eye patch and set it outside on a footed urn to greet all of your trick-or-treaters!
No-Carve Pumpkin
Materials
  • Large Pumpkin
  • Masking Tape or Number Stencils
  • Black acrylic paint
  • Black glitter
Getting Started
  1. Wipe your pumpkin clean so that the tape will stick to your pumpkin.
  2. Make a Jack-O-Lantern face out of masking tape.
  3. Paint a thick layer of acrylic paint in the taped out eyes and mouth. Apply glitter.
  4. Remove stencil and enjoy your easy, No-Carve Pumpkin!
Wrapped Jars with Tea Lights
Materials
  • Mason Jars
  • Black contact paper
  • Orange tissue paper
  • Floral wire, cut to about 1'
  • Plastic spider
  • Tea lights

  • Scissors
Getting Started
  1. From your contact paper, cut eyes and a mouth out for your jars. Triangle eyes and a pumpkin mouth work great.
  2. Remove the paper from the back of the contact paper and stick the black paper onto the jars for your face.
  3. Wrap the floral wire around the neck of the jar and twist to secure, leaving the extra wire hanging off.
  4. Set the jar on a single sheet of orange tissue paper; bring the tissue paper up around the jar, covering the face, and bundle excess the paper on the side opposite the face. Place the plastic spider on top of the bundle and secure both the bundle and the spider with the excess wire from around the neck of the jar. Trim remaining wire.
  5. Place a tea light inside and light of a luminous face!
Clothespin Bats
Materials
  • 1 coffee filters
  • 1 clothespins
  • Purple spray paint
  • Black acrylic paint
  • 2 Googly eyes

Getting Started
  1. Spray paint the coffee filters purple and let dry. Then paint the clothespins black.
  2. Fold the coffee filter in half, and then fold it in half again. Using the clothespin, clamp the filter along the fold and open the filer, these are your wings
  3. Cut half circles from the rounded wings to resemble a bat's wings and then glue two googly eyes to the front of the clothespin.
Moss BOO! Sign
Materials
  • Moss
  • Greening pins
  • Grosgrain ribbon
  • Styrofoam board

Getting Started
  1. Begin by attaching the moss to the front of the Styrofoam with the greening pins.
  2. Once you’ve covered the entire surface, lay out the ribbon to spell out “BOO!”
  3. Secure the ribbon with the greening pins.
  4. With the same ribbon, create a loop on the back so you can hang the sign.
Silhouette Lanterns
Materials
  • Black and orange Paper lanterns
  • Colored paper Halloween stencils
  • Craft glue
Getting Started
  1. Pop open the lanterns insert the wire frames.
  2. Glue the stencils onto the lantern. Light and enjoy!
Spider Web Lanterns
Materials
  • Black Paper lanterns
  • Craft glue
  • Orange Glitter
Getting Started
  1. Pop open the lanterns insert the wire frames.
  2. From 1 – 2' above the lantern, squeeze the glue onto the lantern, making a stringy spider web design.
  3. Sprinkle the glitter over the paint and hang to dry.
Ghoulish Paper Lantern Faces
Materials
  • 1 large paper lantern
  • Construction paper, various colors
  • Hot glue gun
  • Black crepe paper

  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • Stapler
Getting Started
  1. Pop open the lanterns insert the wire frames.
  2. For the mouth, cut a circle from one piece of construction paper ½" larger than the large opening of the lantern. Then cut out two semi-circles, so that you are left with a circle with a line of paper through it, this line will cover the bar on the lanterns opening.
  3. Using hot glue, attach the mouth to the opening on the lantern. Cut out several piece of paper 1"x1/2" and glue those over the line in the mouth.
  4. Next cut out large eyes and eyebrows (layer the eyes with different colors) and glue to the lantern.
  5. Give your lantern a nose with two paper lines for nostrils.
  6. To create the hat, cut out a large circle, about 8" wide and staple crepe paper around the outside. Cut a strip of paper 4"x8" and glue the two 4" ends together. Glue the tube you have just made to the circle, stripe with crepe paper, and attach to the lantern face.
  7. Fill with candy and have fun watching your trick-or-treaters take candy from the ghoulish mouth!
Milk Jug Bucket
Materials
  • Empty gallon milk jug, stickers removed
  • Black and green felt paper
  • Googly eyes
  • Craft glue
  • 4 pipe cleaners (black and white)

Getting Started
  1. Cut the top 1/3 off your milk jug.
  2. Poke two holes in either side of the jug just below the cut rim. Twist together your pipe cleaners and attach to the holes you've made, this is your handle.
  3. Decide on a face for your milk jug, and cut it out of black felt. Then cut green felt just smaller than the eyes you cut in black and glue the green felt to the black felt, finish with googly eyes.
  4. Glue your mouth and eyes to the bucket and go get some candy!
Luminous Take-out Boxes
Materials
  • White take-out boxes
  • Black contact paper
  • Tea light
  • Tea light holder
Tools
  • Pen
  • Scissors
Getting Started
  1. Decide on a face for your take-out box and draw it onto the contact paper. Cut out the face and stick it to the inside of the box.
  2. Place the tea light in its holder and put it in the box. Light and watch the face shine through.
Creepy Mirror Images
Materials
  • Mirror tiles
  • Contact Paper
  • Frosting spray
Tools
  • Pen
  • Utility knife
Getting Started
  1. Cover the mirror with contact paper. Trace a Halloween stencil onto the contact paper and cut out the stencil using the utility knife.
  2. Peel the contact paper away so that you are left only with the stenciled cut-out.
  3. Spray with frosting spray, allow to dry, and then peel off the remaining contact paper.

  4. *Note: these mirrors look great in windowsills, but can also be used as serving trays.
Halloween Wreath
Materials
  • Loose straw wreath
  • Black feather boa
  • Assorted Halloween items (plastic rats, spiders, snakes, eye balls, etc)
  • Ribbon
Getting Started
  1. Wrap the boa around the wreath and then nestle in your Halloween creatures.
  2. Hang using the ribbon.

  3. *Note: A simple straw wreath is a great thing to have around. I keep one on hand that can be decorated for any holiday.
